1978 Alfa Romeo Alfetta sedan racecar.

A very well known and very successful 2.0 car, conceived and built originally by Mike Halasz here in Queensland. Full original build thread available. The sedan shell was used, as it's a slightly longer wheelbase and also quite a bit lighter than the usual coupe GTV Alfetta shell.

We acquired the car about 3 years ago as parts basically and have completely rebuilt it into a very competitive 2.0 car in the Queensland Alfacomp.

During the 2024 season, the car won the following -

1 Outright winner of the up to 2.0 class overall in Alfacomp

2 Winner of the hillclimb trophy

3 3rd overall in Queensland Alfacomp (1st place was a tie between 2 drivers, )

4 2nd in the Morgan Park Alfacomp Supersprints section

5 We didn't compete in the Sprint / Regularity section, hence no trophy !

For 2025, due to work commitments, we have only managed 3 events (2 class wins and 1 hotly contested runner up)

In 2023, the cars first year of competition with us, our other driver, "sideways" Dave got awarded 3rd overall in his class (not Alfacomp, the overall supersprint class at Morgan Park, which is a tougher multimarque competition)

The car runs a standard but very strong Alfa 8v twinspark engine, which produces 137 bhp at the hubs (dyno report available) so the results are all the more impressive. One of the strengths of the car is its corner speed, matching cars a lot more powerful – it has great balance. Huge potential for development of the twinspark engine....

The car has been 100% reliable, thanks to Daves efforts and has been a pleasure to own and develop – only selling as I have a Fireblade engine clubbie project on the go, and also am pursuing a possible change of direction in my racing endeavours at this time.

Very comprehensive full cage, seam welded throughout

Complete repaint, inside and out

High end fuel system inc surge tank etc

Lightweight Gel Battery, secured in battery box

Sought after 2.0 Alfa 8v twinspark Engine, with good compression etc

Custom made cold air delivery system.

Twin MSD ignition units and high power coils

Transaxle – rebuilt with LSD

Two Sparco race seats / Velo harnesses, all in date.

All new instruments / switches

Totally rewired

Nissan Skyline R32 4 pot brakes – front & rear, with adjustable brake bias

Quality plumbed in extinguisher system

Aftermarket ECU by EMU, which is a "Motec style" – some would say a copy - very flexible and future proof

8 wheels – On Nankang AR1 80TW semi slicks – would be a lot quicker on AO50's (2 x AO50's on the front now)

Priced at $21,990 - I don't really want to sell it - however, will talk on price / trades if you are a serious buyer and are actually there looking at the car.

A Supercharger conversion is an option - as I also have, sourced from Mike Halasz (and available separately) - a spare twinspark engine with a full supercharger kit to install with a choice of two different plenums etc etc. – Make yourself a giant killer !
